Sonke Gender calls for protection of women
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Sonke Gender Justice's Mbuyiselo Botha has been speaking to Newswatch as Women's month is commemorated from today.
Botha says the fight against the sexual abuse of women in particular needs to be stepped-up.
He says victims of abuse also need to feel safe at police stations which hasn't been the case in some instances.
"It is about time the men in blue uniform [Police] give women support so that women have the confidence when approaching various police stations...", he said.
"In that they know they will be treated with respect, dignity and utmost care and above all understanding of their plight", Botha said.
