A school near Pietermaritzburg is battling to come to terms with the tragic loss of a pupil yesterday.
Sixteen-year-old Nkosingiphile Ngcamu from Hopewell was stabbed to death just outside Umlulama High School.
A group of boys walked into the school yard and dragged Ngcamu out before attacking him.
The motive for the killing is still unclear but it's believed there had been an argument.
Two teenagers were taken into custody shortly after the stabbing and will appear in court soon.
KZN Education's Muzi Mahlambi says they're shocked by the news.
"Until everybody understands education as a societal matter, or an issue that all of us must participate in - ensuring that things of this nature do not happen. As Education alone, we will never be able to fight this battle," he said.
