SACP condemns Madonsela over press conference
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The SACP's Alex Mashilo has spoken to Newswatch following a media briefing that Madonsela called in Pretoria yesterday to clarify issues concerning her Nkandla report.
"She's completely out offline. Have you ever heard parliament telling Thuli Madonsela how to do her work," he said.
Madonsela last year found that President Jacob Zuma had unduly benefited from the R246-million upgrades to his Nkandla home and requested him to repay a portion of it back.
Mashilo says Madonsela's report has already been considered by Parliament.
"Why does she go all around and convene press conferences on the work of parliament. Imagine parliament going all around when Thuli Madonsela is busy with her work, conducting press conferences and commenting in a manner that she is commenting about parliamentary work. That is unheard of," he added.
Madonsela said yesterday that Zuma had been aware of the spiraling costs to his home and should have intervened.
