If we were to compile a list of 10 South Africans with whom we'd like to have lunch, Olympic swimming superhero Chad le Clos would definitely be on it. He was also on Nicola Walker's list. Well, it all came true!

We ran a promotion, in conjunction with GNC, on The Drive recently, where one lucky person won lunch with Chad le Clos. Of course, The Drive Team would also be there.

That lucky person was matriculant Nicola Walker.

In total, Nicola won a GNC gift pack, the opportunity to meet South Africa’s Golden Boy, Chad le Clos, and an autographed copy of his book, Unbelievable.

We were all treated to absolutely perfect cuisine and impeccable service at my sponsors Three Cities Royal Palm Hotel in Umhlanga.

The Three Cities Royal Palm Hotel never ever fails to deliver.

Our chef, Nicolette insisted we finish off with her Death by Chocolate. Everyone agreed: Possibly the most delicious dessert ever.

Aside from the lunch itself, it was an incredible experience for us all to get to know Chad and his almost-as-famous father, Bert on a more intimate level.

Towards the end of lunch, when we all noticed we needed to start making tracks, Chad disappeared to make a phone call to his trainer to say he'd be late.

He returned with a fist pump saying, "Yes! My trainer said it is recovery day today."

We all assumed that meant he had the day off, but Chad quickly corrected us saying a recovery day means he 'only has to do a 4 kilometre swim!'

There you have it. Our Golden Boy is one of the best in the world for very good reason. And what a super guy he is too.

Here are a few of the snaps taken during lunch.
