Opportunities for development amongst the youth must be cultivated within the borders of the African continent.

This is one of the key discussion points that emerged from a live chat on Twitter hosted by African Union chairperson Nkosazane Dlamini Zuma. 

Commemorating International Youth Day, the AU hosted a two-day conference to discuss how to improve the role of the African youth. 

Ten students from universities in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa were invited to join the chat hosted at the headquarters. 

The former Home Affairs Minister stated the importance of easier trade and travel between African countries.

Better educational and business opportunities should be made availabe in the continent, she said.

The goal is to have 30% of women in Parliament, she tweeted.

Dlamini Zuma also delved into equal rights for both young men and women.
