SA athletes among world's best: veteran
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The country's athletes are currently in Beijing, taking part in the World Athletics Championships.
The team clinched its first gold medal on Wednesday when Wayde van Niekerk won the men's 400m race.
Anaso Jobodwana secured bronze in the 200m event yesterday. That race was clinched by Usain Bolt.
Norri Williamson says the results show local talent is up there with the best.
"If you look at this season, it's probably been the most successful on the circuit for South Africans in maybe a decade or more. We've seen a lot of national records and personal bests being performed. I think even more can be done. The athletes have been able to focus on what the coaches believe is the best preparation," he said.
