Progress being made at Medupi

The committee met with Eskom management yesterday to discuss developments and projections for the plant.
The committee's Ellen Prins says Eskom has informed them that Unit six is fully operational while Unit five is expected to be completed by December next year.
Prins says Eskom has also guaranteed them that construction going forward will not exceed R140-billion.
She says though that they came out of their oversight visit with some concerns.
''We are a bit concerned about scarcity of water in the area and also the labour issues. You can't say for sure that there won't be labour strikes in the area etcetera. Therefore those are also our concerns,'' she said.
