Meet KZN's Miss SA hopeful!

Meet KZN's Miss SA hopeful!

We've only got one Miss SA finalist flying the KZN flag high this year. Meet 23-year-old Sihle Makhanya.

Sihle will be popping into the studios today to chat to Jane about her Miss SA campaign.

Sihle originally hails from Panorama, Empangeni, and is in the process of completing her quantity surveyor diploma at the same time as working full-time as a quantity surveyor technician intern.

She describes herself as sporty - and says she loves maths!

Sihle wants to be the next Miss South Africa because of a passion for South Africa. “The opportunities it has afforded me as a young woman have been endless and now I want to say thank you through giving back,” she says.

Tatum Keshwar, Miss SA 2008, is a previous Miss SA who has really inspired Sihle. "I met her during my matric year when I was at a low point in my life. She spoke about positivity which changed how I looked at myself as a woman and as a South African. She empowered me and that is how a Miss South Africa should be. I doubt she remembers this incident, but I do and that’s the impact I’d like to have on young girls and on Miss South Africa."

Her message to young women in South Africa is that we need to start believing that we are more than beautiful.  "We are smart, we are driven and we are world changers. The potential we have is unbelievable and our beautiful South Africa has opened every door for us to dream and achieve beyond our wildest imagination."

Good luck, Sihle!

Tune in for her interview with Jane Linley-Thomas at 1.30pm today.
