KZN's top pupil in Maths & Science
07 January 2014 at 16:16 by - Sinethemba Khoza has been announced as the top girl pupil in maths and science in the province.

The 19-year-old, who scored eight distinctions in the 2013 national senior certificate exams, was amongst the many who were honoured at Durban's International Convention Centre earlier this afternoon.

The Emhlwaneni high school pupil from Ladysmith says she was surprised when she got the results.

Although she has always worked hard and tried her best, she says because the exams are marked externally, you never know what the results will be.

The soft-spoken matriculant attributes her achievement to not being too proud to ask her classmates or teachers if there was something she did not understand.

Khoza has been given a scholarship to study at the University of Cape Town but still has to decide between medicine and actuarial science.
