Carp - Albert Falls has kept anglers busy with smaller carp in the Pelican Bay area, mostly on conventional tackle. The public slipways and day sites have been fishing well as well, with many reports from locals of fish ranging between 2-8kg. Nagle Dam anglers fishing during the day have been doing well, with reports of yellowish on smaller baits. Anglers looking to hook bigger carp have been forced to use larger baits. The river section has been the most productive area. Inanda fished superbly for conventional anglers targeting smaller fish, with the biggest fish weighing in at around 9kg. There is a noticeable change in temperature and activity in the water which is a good sign of summer coming along. One can only wait for the smaller fish to move through in full force.

Bass - After a tough week of fishing at Albert Falls, weekend anglers were surprised by a few good sized bass. Reports suggest that from Thursday onwards the water came to life and anglers had excellent fishing fun. Smaller fish fed well in the shallows and the larger fish were landed on frogs and surface lures such as Strike Pro Thai Stick lures. Inanda was slower to take off, but anglers fished well on Sunday and were lucky enough to land a few fish over 2kg. A noticeable difference in fish activity was seen as many anglers using surface lures such as frogs were hit hard by even the smaller fish. The cliffs fished very well with most reports of large fish being from this area.

Fly Fishing - Now is the time to go fishing for scalies in our river systems. The rivers are clear and not running too strong. Using a tungsten bead dropper and the normal Hot Spot, PTN and Copper John are a few of the deadly combos which one can use to entice the bite.
