Good bass action at Midmar

Anglers at Midmar Dam have enjoyed good bass fishing over the past week.

Bass - Midmar produced the goods over the weekend with fish up to 5kg being landed in the Fish Offs and a number of fish between 2-3.5kg were also boated. All boats had at least one fish of over 2kg. Albert Falls has also done well over the last week, proving it can stand up to Midmar even when Midmar is on fire. Anglers off boats have had good catches near the dam wall and yacht club on Crank baits and Spinner baits in the cleaner water. Shongweni has seen plenty of good fishing for guys off the kick boats and float tubes - a lot of which managed a few fish over 1kg per session.

Carp - Shongweni Dam was the dam to be at over the weekend, having produced a variety of fish including carp, barbel and bass. Carp anglers were lucky enough to hook into good numbers of fish between 2-6kg on specimen and conventional tackle. Inanda Dam fished relatively well considering the level of water at the moment. The water is clean and visibility is extremely good. It is imperative to make use of decent camp gear and terminal tackle such as Korda components.

Just a reminder that Durban Ski Boat Club will be hosting a jet-ski fishing competition next weekend.
