KZN celebs dived into Spring this morning, joining Darren for the First Swim of Spring. The sun may have shied away but spirits were high as Darren led an all-star team into the water at Durban’s Battery Beach.

There was plenty of eye-candy – and then there was Darren in a wetsuit, complete with orange water wings! Sharks players Waylon Murray and Christiaan de Bruin, the Dolphins’ Cameron Delport, Andile Pehlukwayo & Sibonelo Makhanya, AmaZulu players Sifiso Hlanti, Robyn Johannes & Marc van Heerden, Miss KZN Rodee Verburgh, Veranda Panda’s Jane Baillie and Liam Magner , Idols heartthrob Kyle Deutsch, and Claudia Thompson, Tayla Kinsey and Sizophila Solontsi from the KZN Women’s Rugby team followed Darren as he led the charge, Baywatch-style, into the water.

ECR listeners joined in the fun too, as East Coast Breakfast broadcast live from Circus Circus Café along the promenade.

“The First Swim of Spring is about seizing the moment and welcoming Spring in true KZN fashion,” says Darren. “It’s also about creating excitement and the fact we have the best promenade in the country!”

Darren’s co-host Natarah Nadesan who cheered on the guys and girls as they  swam into Spring, adds, “It’s a chance for us to celebrate things we often take for granted like being able to head to the beach all year round. Where else in the country can you do this? Sometimes it’s nice to remind ourselves that we live in a magnificent part of SA.”
