Dawn: Sharks peaking at right time

Dawn: Sharks peaking at right time

The week leading up to this match was filled with excitement. A special plan was put together to give our Jacques Botes, #JB270, a proper Durban send-off, in what is potentially his last home game.

Jacques is such an incredible person, both on and off the field. He leads from the front and is impeccable with his word. I have always thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him in studio.

He also has contributed countless happy rugby moments for me and the Durban faithful. He truly is a living legend and I for one, will be really sad when he hangs his boots up for good at the end of this season.

The Lions have had a really exceptional Currie Cup season this year, but interestingly enough, I called for a win for the Boys. Records are hard things to move away from and the Lions have a terrible Currie Cup record in Durbs, as the last time they won, was in 2007.

The match started with a bang. The collisions were extremely physical and brutal, as both sides fought for dominance in a typical local derby. Unfortunately, our Paul was injured badly in the first 10 mins and had to be taken to hospital.

Freddie was outstanding and had one of his best games this season. Andre, Tera, Jacques, Lourens, Mvovo and Monde, were all outstanding on defence and attack. The entire team showed enormous commitment and aggression in closing out the Lions and ensuring the win.

The Mad Ugly!

The Ref Lesogo Legoete (aka Pro) had an absolute shocker of a game. He did not communicate clearly with the teams and penalised the Sharks harshly for the slightest infringements. He showed clear bias towards the Lions and this is unacceptable in a professional era. I do not know why he had assistants, as they too, were deaf, dumb and blind! Absolute disgrace!

I think that the boys are finally starting to peak at the right time. I am really pleased at our set-piece and I feel that there has been a massive improvement from the beginning of the season.

Our defensive efforts have been outstanding! Off-loads are also much better and SP has been outstanding in attack in the last 2 matches. We are definitely heading in the right direction and I am one very happy lady! Just love you boys, thank you so very much. Mwah!

Onwards and upwards darlings!
