Beer label competition winner!

During the East Coast Radio Breakfast Tour, we brewed our own beer during our stop-over in Nottingham Road. 

Then we asked YOU to help Darren name the exclusive brew, and design the label. We promised the winner: 1. Eternal glory 2. An internship at Espresso, a leading Durban Advertising Agency 3. Plenty of limited edition beer. 

We got some incredible entries. One thing is for sure, KZN has serious design talent! 

After much deliberation, our panel of judges decided on Samantha Sami Niemann’s label design, ‘Durban’s Finest Early Bird Breakfast Brew’. 

Here’s what Samantha put together for us, we love it! 

Samantha is super excited that her design got chosen, and is thrilled at the opportunity the internship offers. 

Here’s what she had to say about her design: 

"In conceptualizing the challenge, the immediate association was of the childhood tale of 'the early bird catches the worm'. [This] analogy I felt best expressed the spirit of the ECR beer," says Samantha. "The overall mood was set by the use of a warm colour palette - harnessing the early morning sunrise with the use of reds, oranges and yellows."

My name is Samantha Sami Niemann, I am 22 years old and I am currently studying Multimedia Design at Vega School of Branding Leadership. I chose multimedia because it is what I love to do. Nothing makes me happier than being able to express my love for design through work which showcases my personality, enthusiasm as well as professionalism. Every day I wake up excited to do what it is that I love. As much as I love my work, I have a few other things which I enjoy just as much. I come home to an amazing family as well as a little boy of my own. Yes, I am a mother as well as a student - which would not be possible if I did not believe that I could do both just as well.
