Stand out at this year's Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk by adding some personal flavour to your official race gear. It’s not as hard as you think and won’t cost you a cent!

The Knot

The biggest style dilemma of a good old T-shirt is that more often than not they don’t always fit. The T-shirt knot is a useful tool especially if your shirt is a size too big. Work it by gathering the extra fabric into a knot. Wear it either to the side or even at the back. The new silhouette will immediately streamline your look.

Cut Offs

Denims aren’t the only things that can be ripped to reveal a new hot look. The standard tee is also a great candidate. Follow the inner seam on each sleeve with a pair of scissors to create a baggy vest. Don’t try cut the sleeve off in one foul swoop. Make a small incision under the arm and follow carefully from the front to the back. Wear with a cool sports bra and you’re ready to roll. Cotton On (Pavilion) has some printed options available in store now!

Off the shoulder

Even though the ‘off shoulder’ tee had its heyday in the ‘80s its still a great workout look. All you have to do is grab a pair of scissors and cut along the seam of the neck. Follow the same principle as above. Don’t cut in a hurry. Start with a small incision and follow the entire neckline from front to back.

The Crop

The crop top is uber hot right now. There are two options to create this look. You can, either neatly fold the tee to your preferred length and tie at the back or you could snip. Always try on the top first, mark a point at the length you want and pray you cut straight!

Layer it

The mornings are definitely on the chilly side these days so you might want to start in a tracksuit top. You want to find one with a zip so that you can quickly zip open if you get too hot. I always insist on a little ruche sleeve when it comes to sportswear, it just gives your look a much-needed touch of femininity. If you get really hot, tie around your waist or shoulders.

Don’t be afraid to add accessories to your Big Walk look. A good-looking pair of sunnies, visors, headbands and headscarves are all fun ways to single out your ensemble.

Good Luck x
