They want to be paid out their pensions - after the municipality ended the contract of its pension service provider.

Zama says they hope to have a found common ground by the end of the meeting, and are pleading with residents to be patient.

"We are tying to come up with a solution in terms of ensuring this mass action that is currently taking place, or this go-slow that is taking place - does not affect the service delivery of water and sanitation services to our communities," he said.

Some South Coast residents received a notice from the municipality this morning, informing them of the strike - saying it would affect water and sanitation services in the entire district.
