Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Police divers have recovered the body of a 24-year-old man from waters off the Durban beachfront.
They were dispatched to an area near the North Beach Pier - following reports this morning that a body had been seen floating in the shore break.
"Durban Central police have opened a case of inquest after the body of a 24-year-old man was found floating near the North Beach pier. The search and rescue team went to where they found the man. It's unknown at this stage as to how he drowned or how he ended up at the beach," he said.
Meanwhile, the search continues for a man who was apparently washed into a storm water drain during flash floods in Chatsworth yesterday.

Police divers were unable to enter the drain yesterday, as the waters were still raging.
They are expected to resume their efforts today.
