Five people have been killed in a road accident in Empangeni, in northern KZN.
The crash happened on the R102 near the University of Zululand turn-off, earlier this afternoon. It involved a bus, a minibus taxi, and a car.
It's understood that the bus tried to overtake, but it collided with the taxi.

Empangeni Road Traffic Inspectorate's Natie Ferreira says traffic is being diverted - but he's urging motorists to rather avoid the area.
"There were two female red cards that were taken to hospital - one to Garden Clinic, the other to Ngwelezane. The second red card female is quite serious. Looking at the position of the vehicle, we're looking at another hour on scene," he said.
