DA councillor joins ANC over lack of party representation for Coloured people in KZN

The DA in KZN says Clive Lots - who recently left the party to join the ANC - was facing disciplinary charges.
Lots - who'd been serving as a DA Councillor in ward 32 in the Msunduzi Municipality - was officially welcomed to the ANC during a Durban briefing this morning - along with another Ward 32 leader - Merle Williams.
Lots has cited a lack of representation within the DA as a reason for his move.
"I have been frustrated up until thus far as a Coloured candidate. In Msunduzi, there are 15 DA councillors, and I am the only Coloured public representative of the DA. That does not represent the demographics on the ground. There is no place for Coloured people," he said.

The DA held a briefing immediately after the ANC's - with KZN party leader Zwakele Mncwango telling the media Lots faced charges for leaking party information and breaching their social media policy.
"We've been suspicious of Clive for a while now. In fact, he was on the way out anyway. The charges brought against him - he knew he wouldn't really win any of these charges. And I think as a party, it is good that we have an opportunity now to field a candidate that will work for us. Because he has been working for the ANC while with the DA - we have been following what he's been doing, that is why we knew he was leaking information to the ANC," he said.
He says Williams was no longer a member of the DA - after resigning in September.
