Big turnout for anti-abortion march in Durban
Organisers of an anti-abortion march in Umhlanga north of Durban are hoping to have the legalisation of abortion in South Africa reversed.
Scores of pro-life activists took the streets across the country yesterday calling for the end of what they believe is the killing of unborn babies.
The National Alliance for Life says more than 1.2-million abortions have been performed since the termination of pregnancy was legalised in 1997.
President of the Personhood Alliance in the United States Dan Bakker joined the Durban march.
''This is a wonderful expression of the last human rights issue in the 21st century, when this human life began and when is it protected and acknowledged under law,'' he said.
This woman who terminated several pregnancies shared her experience.
''There were six of them. Eventually, I had an encounter with the Lord and I repented and the Lord and then changed my life and gave me strength to stop living a promiscuous life as well,'' she said.
