Car carrier overturns on N3

A car carrier has rolled on the N3 near Lion Park on the way to 'Maritzburg.

The driver of the articulated truck - which had been carrying SUV's - apparently lost control of the vehicle at around 6am.

He's been seriously injured.

By 7.30am, KZN Transport's Bhekisisa Mncube said while one lane on the Durban-bound side of the freeway has been affected, the whole 'Maritzburg-bound side - in the vicinity of Ashbuton - has been closed.

"The road is close now to allow the emergency services to clear the scene. Traffic to Pietermaritzburg was diverted through R103 by Lion Park."

UPDATE: 9.15am - the road has been reopened.
