Tansnat wins interdict

The Pietermaritzburg High Court has granted Tansnat, Durban's new bus company, an interim interdict preventing union Tawusa from withholding its labour.

The company went to court this morning because two previous driver recruitment efforts failed.

Tansnat CEO Mike Jesserman says it's a somewhat hollow victory.

"I think interdicts are not victories. We should be able to get there without an interdict. People should sit around the table and talk, and we could have gone forward a week ago."

Jesserman says they'll be working around the clock to ensure that the service can resume by Wednesday morning.

"We are starting to, hopefully, by later this afternoon start employing all the people that we need to drive the buses, and to get the bus service going within the shortest possible time."
