It was a case of good news, bad news for Charlie Sheen on Monday.
The good news is that a judge in Colorado lifted a restraining order barring the Two and a Half Men star from contacting wife Brooke Mueller.
The order was imposed after Sheen's Christmas Day arrest for allegedly threatening his wife and holding a knife to her throat.
Now, for the bad news. Sheen’s been formally charged on suspicion of felony menacing, misdemeanor third-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The actor, who didn’t enter a plea, will return to court next month. The most serious charge carries a potential three-year sentence behind bars.
Sheen has reason to feel optimistic, though -Mueller's legal team has asked prosecutors to drop the case.
Despite the charges, Sheen and Mueller seem to have reconciled.
The couple, who married in 2008 and have twin sons, hugged and kissed in court after the restraining order was tossed out. They also plan to move back in together.
Mueller's lawyer says the couple wants to work things out. Listen to the audio clip above…
